Tom Taylor
Tom Taylor – APM Chairman
Tom is a practicing project manager with Buro Four, which he established with three colleagues – hence the name, with a European outlook in 1985. Recent capital projects for Tom have included the Centenary
Project for RADA and the National Tennis Centre for LTA. Tom trained and qualified as a Building Surveyor and he quickly moved into management roles on major construction projects and later also on portfolios of smaller projects. He has seen projects at every stage and closely aligns with and supports customer needs and interests. Sectors of commissions are many and varied: arts and media, manufacturing, residential, retail,
defence, education, leisure, health, infrastructure – with more to come. Tom is a Certificated Project Manager. He has been active in London Branch since the early 1990’s as a committee member, event manager for Master Classes and a range of original “New Persons” events, as Chairman for three years and as Council Representative. It is as this role that Tom was approached to join the APM Executive Board – on which he
has sponsored or managed a number of initiatives. Tom became APM Chairman in 2004. Tom is an enthusiast for the practical aspects of Project Management and for Time Control skills. This has led him to write various articles and booklets as well as providing talks and lectures at universities, CPD organisations and public courses. He is also a significant contributor to Buro Four’s own guides to Good Practice. Tom has a supportive wife, three large boys in their twenties, and lives in London and plays tennis when he can. Tom has recently produced a paper entitled ‘APM Supports Sustainability Outlooks’ which can be downloaded from the ‘Resources’ section of the website.
